Grant Funds in Action | Learning From Both Sides of the Needle
These photos show our healthcare students using IV training arms purchased with grant funds—but the learning goes even deeper.
Students rotated roles, practicing as both the patient and the phlebotomist, allowing them to understand the procedure from both perspectives. This approach builds not only technical skill in venipuncture and phlebotomy but also empathy, communication, and patient-centered care.
Using the SimLab Solutions IV training arms, students practiced:
✔️ Tourniquet placement and vein selection
✔️ Proper order of draw
✔️ Safe technique and infection control
✔️ Professional patient interaction
This is what workforce investment looks like—hands-on, high-quality training that prepares students for real clinical settings and real careers.
