Students in the Heating, Ventilation, Air-Conditioning/Refrigeration (HVAC/R) 1 & 2 programs at Emerald Coast Technical College are getting hands-on training by repurposing older equipment for practice installations.
Working with real HVAC/R systems allows students to practice installation techniques, troubleshoot components, and gain the kind of experience they’ll use every day in the field. By training on existing equipment, they can repeat the process multiple times and truly master the skills. Scroll through the pics to see the finished product. They did an outstanding job!

Our HVAC students put their knowledge to the test by building a homemade refrigerator using spare parts — and it’s working!
Through careful system design, wiring, airflow setup, and refrigeration cycle troubleshooting, students successfully achieved temperature and proved that understanding the fundamentals makes all the difference.
Projects like this strengthen critical thinking, problem-solving, and real-world diagnostic skills—the kind employers are looking for every day.

Students in the Electricity program at Emerald Coast Technical College are gaining valuable hands-on experience while serving our community! Recently, they worked on-site at Everlasting Word Church, installing conduit for electrical wiring as part of their training.
Projects like this allow students to apply what they learn in the classroom to real-world settings—measuring, bending conduit, installing boxes, and working together to complete a job safely and accurately.

These incredible dual enrolled students from FHS and SWHS are hard at work in the Patient Care Technician (PCT) Program at Emerald Coast Technical College @ Magnet Innovation Center – Watersound!
From practicing high-quality CPR and mastering chest compressions to learning proper ventilation techniques and infant lifesaving skills, these students are building the confidence and competence needed in real emergency situations.
Through hands-on training with adult and infant mannequins, they are developing critical thinking skills, teamwork, and the ability to stay calm under pressure — all while earning valuable certifications that put them ahead in the healthcare field.
We are so proud of these students for choosing to take charge of their future and begin their healthcare journey early!

As we wrap up Heart Month at Emerald Coast Technical College, we are proud to share the incredible results from our recent blood drive!
Thanks to our amazing students, staff, and community partners, 12 units of blood were donated.
Since each donation can save up to three lives, that means up to 36 patients could benefit from the lifesaving generosity of our ECTC family.
Even more powerful—the blood donated will likely be transfused into patients within 48–72 hours. The need is constant, and your impact is immediate.
We are grateful for our continued partnership and for everyone who helped make this drive a success. Together, we are truly making a difference in our community.
