We are proud to recognize the outstanding progress our ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) students have made this year under the guidance of instructor Maria Preis-Rogowski!
✅ In the AM class, students gained an average of 8.8 points on the CASAS Reading Assessment, with 60% advancing to the next NRS educational level.
✅ In the PM class, 100% of students improved their reading scores, with an average gain of 6 points, and 66% advancing to the next NRS educational level.
These results reflect the hard work, dedication, and perseverance of our students as they continue to strengthen their English language skills and work toward their educational and career goals.

Students from Ms. Kirk’s Practical Nursing class recently had the incredible opportunity to observe a surgical procedure and assist with processing surgical instruments following the operation at North Walton Doctors Hospital.
Experiences like these provide valuable hands-on learning that helps prepare our future nurses for success in the healthcare field. We are grateful for the opportunity to connect classroom knowledge with real-world clinical experiences.

Our Practical Nursing students are building hands-on clinical skills by learning how to use a Doppler ultrasound to assess peripheral pulses.
A Doppler is used when a peripheral pulse is difficult or impossible to palpate manually. This important assessment tool helps healthcare professionals evaluate arterial blood flow and peripheral circulation, providing valuable information about a patient's vascular health.
Through real-world practice and skill development, our students are gaining the confidence and experience needed to provide safe, effective patient care in a variety of healthcare settings.

ECTC Electricity students are taking charge!
Students from the Electricity Program at Emerald Coast Technical College recently had the opportunity to complete work-based learning experience hours at the Emerald Coast Council on Aging in DeFuniak Springs.
Under the guidance of instructor Johnny Lynch, students practiced important industry skills, including ladder safety, lockout/tagout procedures, and replacing existing lighting with new LED fixtures.
We are proud of these students for stepping outside the classroom and applying their skills in a real-world setting while giving back to the community. Even more exciting—the class will return in August to continue assisting with additional projects.
Thank you to the Emerald Coast Council on Aging for partnering with ECTC and supporting workforce education opportunities for our students.
