These future healthcare professionals suited up in full PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) to learn the correct protocols for donning and doffing—and just as importantly, what not to do. From gloves to gowns and masks to face shields, they’re mastering the skills needed to keep both themselves and their patients safe. By using balloons, students must apply just the right amount of pressure and maintain steady hand coordination to avoid "popping" the balloon—mirroring the caution needed when shaving a real person to prevent cuts or irritation. The exercise also emphasizes the importance of patient comfort, safety, and attention to detail.
This fun yet challenging practice allows future nurses to build confidence in their technique while reinforcing their understanding of proper patient care procedures. It’s a wonderful example of how practical, engaging experiences prepare students for real-world clinical responsibilities.

Along with all of Walton County's schools, some of our staff participated in Manufacturing Day today. We took the opportunity to reflect on our performance from the previous school year as we eagerly anticipate the upcoming year and formulate plans to enhance and better serve our students and community. ECTC accomplished great things in many areas, proving that everyone involved in the district's concept of "rowing for the goal" and "doing our part" meant business. Among the many "diamonds" that were shared today were ECTC's increase of certifications by 53%, an increase enrollment by 20%, and dual enrollment increased by 58% for the 2024-25 school year! We are so proud of everyone that helped in achieving these goals and we look forward to improving even more next school year!
