Future HVAC/R Techs Bring a 40-Year-Old Coca-Cola Cooler Back to Life! 🛠️
Our Heating, Ventilation, Air-Conditioning/Refrigeration (HVAC/R) 1 & 2 classes took on a real-world challenge: diagnosing and restoring a 40-year-old Coca-Cola store-style refrigerator that had completely stopped cooling.
Students worked through each step of the process—
🔧 Disassembling and accessing the refrigeration components
⚡ Testing electrical connections and compressor function
🧊 Troubleshooting airflow and system performance
🔩 Making necessary repairs to get the unit running again
And the best part? They successfully brought it back to working condition!
This is hands-on learning at its best—problem solving, teamwork, and real equipment repair that mirrors the work they’ll do in the field.

🔧 Teamwork in Action at ECTC! ❄️
When our plumbing classroom began getting blasted with cold air from above, our Heating, Ventilation, Air-Conditioning/Refrigeration (HVAC/R) 1 & 2 students jumped in to help! The center deflector panel inside the air diffuser had gone missing, causing cold air to pour straight down on a student instead of being properly dispersed throughout the room.
Our HVAC/R class immediately identified the issue and repaired it using insulated duct material—the correct choice to prevent condensation and dripping that would have occurred with plain metal. The result? The repair was functional, efficient, and clean, and most importantly, it restored comfort for everyone in the room!
Way to go, HVAC/R team, for putting real-world skills to work and supporting fellow students!

In our ECTC plumbing class, students have been hard at work honing their copper piping skills. From soldering and cutting copper pipes to cleaning them to perfection, our students are truly getting hands-on with every step of the process. They even practiced making copper swages for soldering!
It's wonderful to watch their progress and see them gain the confidence to tackle real-world plumbing tasks. Way to go, future pros!

Ribbon Cutting Highlights at the Magnet Innovation Center!
Last month, members of the Walton County School Board, the County Commission, the building firm and the architectural team joined us for a special ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Magnet Innovation Center.
Guests toured our brand-new PN/PCT Skills Lab, where our PCT instructor demonstrated the incredible capabilities of the new Juno equipment. They also visited the AIT lab next door to see firsthand how our students are preparing for high-demand careers through hands-on learning and industry-aligned technology.
It was a wonderful event, and we are grateful for the support and collaboration as we continue to grow opportunities for students in Walton County!
