Types of Financial Aid
Emerald Coast Technical College (ECTC) offers a variety of financial aid programs and funding resources to help students achieve their educational and career goals. Eligibility requirements vary by program.
Federal Financial Aid
Federal Pell Grant
The Federal Pell Grant is available to eligible students based on information reported on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®).
FAFSA completion is required.
Award amounts are determined by federal eligibility guidelines.
Pell Grants do not have to be repaid if the student successfully completes the enrollment period.
State of Florida Programs & Scholarships
Florida Student Assistance Grant – Career Education (FSAG-CE)
A need-based grant for eligible Florida residents enrolled in approved career education programs.
Florida Work Experience Program (FWEP)
Provides eligible Florida students with career-related work experiences while enrolled in school.
Award amounts and availability vary.
Students must meet institutional eligibility requirements.
Open Door Grant Program (ODGP)
Provides funding for eligible students enrolled in approved workforce education programs.
Open Door funds may assist with:
Tuition and fees
Assessment and certification costs
Awards are based on program eligibility, institutional review, and available funding.
Florida Bright Futures Scholarship Program
Includes:
Florida Academic Scholars (FAS)
Florida Medallion Scholars (FMS)
Gold Seal Vocational Scholars (GSV)
Award amounts and eligible expenses vary based on scholarship type and student eligibility.
Florida Prepaid College Plan
Students using Florida Prepaid benefits should notify the Financial Aid Office and provide any required documentation.
Local & Institutional Aid
ECTC Opportunity Scholarship
Institutional scholarship awards may be based on:
Academic achievement
Financial need
Program of study
Donor requirements
Students must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) and remain in good academic standing.
Local Scholarships and Community Sponsors
Local businesses, organizations, and private donors periodically provide scholarship opportunities for ECTC students.
Workforce & Employment Programs
Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA)
WIOA funding assists eligible students pursuing high-demand careers and may help cover:
Tuition and fees
Books and supplies
Uniforms and required equipment
Career counseling and support services

Specialized Support Programs
Vocational Rehabilitation (VR)
Vocational Rehabilitation assists eligible individuals with disabilities in achieving employment goals and may provide support for:

Veterans Education Benefits
ECTC is approved for Veterans Education Benefits for eligible servicemembers, veterans, and dependents.
Programs may include:
Chapter 30 – Montgomery GI Bill® Active Duty
Chapter 31 – Veteran Readiness and Employment (VR&E)
Chapter 33 – Post-9/11 GI Bill®
Chapter 35 – Survivors' and Dependents' Educational Assistance (DEA)
