Program Description
Our Electricity program here at Emerald Coast Technical College offers entry level electrical skills required by the construction industry. This program includes the layout, installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of electrical wiring and related equipment in residential and commercial applications with advanced training as an Electrical Technician. Lessons will include: blueprint interpretation, building and wiring codes, specifications and material capacities and limitations are covered, as well as testing and repair of circuits, conduit installation, power panels, motors, transformers, lighting fixtures, PLC’s, electronic circuits and devices and safety equipment. Our students also install electrical systems in structures; they install wiring and other electrical components, such as circuit breaker panels, switches, and light fixtures, and they follow blueprints, the National Electrical Code and state and local codes. Completers of this program earn a Florida Vocational Certificate in Electricity. The program is also nationally certified by The National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER).
