Are you PCS/ETS or relocating to the Walton County School District?

At the Walton Intensity School of Excellence, we offer a wide range of resources to help make your transition as smooth and efficient as possible.

We understand the unique challenges military families face when relocating—finding housing, schools, shopping, and becoming familiar with a new community can be overwhelming. Often, families arrive with limited information about their new location. At the WISE Center, we are committed to reducing that stress and uncertainty, particularly for students transitioning into a new school environment.

About the WISE Center

The WISE Center is a district-wide school serving students across Walton County. Our diverse student population represents the entire school district, and enrollment is open to all eligible students. We specialize in:

  • Small group instruction

  • Online and self-paced learning opportunities

  • Hands-on, experiential learning

  • Alternative education pathways

Our learning environment is designed to support students who benefit from additional academic guidance and flexibility. Smaller class sizes allow for more personalized instruction, while our online learning options enable students to progress at their own pace. We also offer engaging extracurricular opportunities, including an Esports team.

Supporting Your Transition

When enrolling at the WISE Center, we assist families with transition planning by providing a school care package. This includes valuable information about the local area, such as community highlights, shopping locations, dining options, and points of interest.

The enrollment process is straightforward. Our academic staff will meet with you to review your child’s educational needs and develop a plan of study for students in grades 5–12.

  • ESE services are available for qualifying students

  • Dual enrollment opportunities are offered for grades 11–12 through nearby institutions, including Emerald Coast Technical College and Northwest Florida State College

Student Transition and Support Services

We recognize that school transitions can be especially difficult for children who must leave behind familiar environments and friendships. PCS moves, in particular, can be challenging. To support students during this adjustment, we provide:

  • A student-led peer-to-peer transition group

  • Access to a transition and mental health specialist

  • Ongoing support services to promote emotional well-being and connection

Honoring Military Families

The WISE Center proudly supports and recognizes military families. Many of our staff members are veterans, military spouses, or children of service members who have experienced these transitions firsthand. Throughout the year, we host events to honor those who serve our nation, including:

  • Veterans Day Celebration – November 10, 2026 (hosted by WISE Student Government)

  • Military Career Day – Date To Be Determined

  • Month of the Military Child – April 2027

  • Purple Up Day – April 21, 2027
