Literacy Night!

Please Join Bay School in Celebrating a Week of Literacy

Reading Night is scheduled for Wednesday, 1/28/26 at 6pm and will be sponsored and conducted by The New Worlds Reading Group located at the Lastinger Center at the University of Florida

The New Worlds Reading program is designed to enhance literacy skills among children and foster a love for reading. Their events engage families in meaningful ways, providing them with resources and support to encourage reading at home.

There are two main components for the event:

  • Community Literacy Event: This includes a brief 5-7 minute presentation about the New Worlds Reading program, followed by a 10-15 minute signup support session for parents. Each family will receive a free book and be encouraged to engage in a related activity together.

  • Parent Workshop: This involves a 15–20-minute presentation on a literacy skill to help parents support their children's learning at home. They provide a 10-15-minute signup support session for parents. At the same time, children participate in a separate, fun activity, such as canvas painting. Additionally, every attendee will receive a free meal and have the chance to win raffle prizes.

  • The Book Fair will also be open during this event.

We are looking forward to an exciting week Celebrating Literacy!
